Schneckland Fight

"Really cool"

submission: Schneckland Fight
date: November 19, 2008

Woah... how INTERESTING! This flash has a really unique feel to it. The character design is near professional quality, which I do not see on here often. Also remarkable is that you kept up the quality throughout the whole (long!) piece. I watched the movie before reading the authors notes, so I didn't know about how you took turns on it. But I definitely noticed how animations were rarely recycled, props were not recycled, and how the setting constantly changed (thus requiring loads more art!)

In the beginning, I felt it moved too slow and I was tempted to stop watching. However by the middle I sort of "got" what you were going for, and I was interested to see what the heck you would throw at us next. I wasn't disappointed, since you gave us cyborgs, zombies, and took us to outer space and back! The multiple natural ending points that DID NOT in fact end the flash were really amusing... I mean, the salt thing? THE ROBOT ARM GRABBING HIM? Going into a secret compartment after returning to real life, etc? Those parts were hilarious. I also liked the little digging underground scene. It added in some "parody" factor.

So overall very enjoyable; I am still impressed at the length and the dedication it took to keep going with it. In your next flash, I would suggest concentrating on making the action flow quicker and more smoothly, as another reviewer said. You could also play around with adding more in-betweens, although I know that was not the point of this particular movie. Good luck!

Wild Salmon in Trouble

"Very impressive! Loved it!"

date: November 18, 2008

I learned so much from watching this! I thoroughly enjoyed it as well, thanks to the wonderful animation. It has the feel of homemade because of the occasional stray lines and slower framerate-- while still sustaining professional quality art throughout. So you've given the best of both worlds, imo (because I hate watching animation that is so realistic it might as well be live action!). And we viewers (probably the producers as well) REALLY appreciate how you incorporate truly new animations throughout the film, rather than recycling things.

The cartoon drawing style was really nice. It made me cringe when that tiny salmon looked all around and was alone. =( Plus that poor bear! And eeew, that cage full of lice! If you did animations like this for the discovery channel or the like, people would be way more into it because they can relate to the "characters".

So thanks for sharing!

Chuck's New Tux!

"Bad rating"

Please change the "mild violence" rating to something more appropriate.

I liked the animation but the ending was too realistic to be funny.

Grand Theft Awesome

"5 stars (out of 10)"

date: June 13, 2008

There's a difference between parody and plain old idea theft. I thought this leaned more toward theft. For one, your title doesn't suggest parody or tribute-- it sounds like it IS one of Egoraptor's flashes. And two, there's nothing "tribute" about the flash itself. You copy Egoraptor so closely that it just feels like you were trying to be him.

The animation itself was funny. I think the biggest problem was that everything really lagged in some parts..either make things faster and keep each scene constantly flowing from one to the next, or just chop some out and make it shorter. I didn't think the jokes had enough punch to support the length.

The huge amounts of spurting blood was really fun and probably my favorite part.

Watch Out Obama

"Kind of grating"

Hilary's voice was really bad for her character. It didn't match at all and it didn't add to the humor. It was just annoying.

The animation was really clean and nice...

2 - The Story of Khale

"Awesome!"

date: May 9, 2008

I've been waiting for number 2 to come out! I was DEFINITELY surprised in the direction you took this..I don't know, Khale seemed like a very different sort of character in the first one. More of a mystical hero type, and I thought he was an adult. However, I'm not disappointed. The whole tone of this was really nice; it made me HAPPY to watch!

My favorite thing about it was seeing all the unique characters..I don't know how many will show up again but just the variety of character fleshed out the world way more than even the beautiful landscape did.

So just great job. The art is so pleasing to look at and the story to come sounds very entertaining...hah, Khale's (or the narrator's?) little observations are so true.

FBF shortt

"Great art, sloppy movie"

submission: FBF shortt
date: May 7, 2008

It's really good fbf.

But it isn't a movie or even anything with any purpose. You can show these kinds of things just for the artistic sake, but music would have been nice, and it desperately NEEDED A PRELOADER! It was all horribly choppy and I had to restart it several times because it wasn't all loaded. Check out the tutorials section on how to make one. They are easy. You can also just download one and stick it in your movie.

The Eternal Comedy

"Coincidence...or not."

Is this an intentional copy of "The Pen is Mightier..." or just a very unfortunate accident? =/ The animation was alright for your first flash but a little slow and over dramatic for what it delivered.

_{Conflict/Union}_

"Am I watching the same flash as the others?"

submission: _{Conflict/Union}_
date: May 5, 2008

Interesting approach to the idea but I'm not a fan of random line animations. There's a point where abstract just becomes childish. Yes, I saw the little characters fighting. It was also choppy.

May 6, 2008

Author's Response:

I fail to see how it is choppy. Oh well.

Abortion 01 - Proper

"Why"

date: May 5, 2008

Why is it called Abortion?

The voices were very good and the animation was really nice to carry the story...

..but maybe I just don't get the punchline. Why was the guy still counting when he came back..was he supposed to have 'gone around the world'? Ah well I liked all of it until the end.

May 5, 2008

Author's Response:

This cartoon was based on a series of audio sketches called "Abortion" by my brother and myself. We call it "Abortion" because, as a joke, we described the ideas we used for the sketches as being fetuses that were aborted from our minds and into the sketch.

And the guy counting had actually gone in a big circle around the town and ended up back where he started. Seeing that he had lost count, he stopped, opened his eyes and promptly did what you're suppose to do in a duel after you've stopped pacing. :p
